Small Group Study
The situation is far too common. Most of us at some point in our lives have been in a classroom or at work and had someone boldly object to the legitimacy of faith in God. Surrounded by fellow students or a room full of coworkers we hear something along the lines of…
I believe in science, not some man made mythology!
I can’t believe in a God who would allow so much evil!
There is not one shred of evidence for the existence God!
The Bible is just a bunch of man-made stories that have been changed numerous times throughout History!
I don’t need some book to tell me how to be a good person!
(you can find answers to these questions and many others here)
…and find ourselves wanting badly to respond. With our hearts racing and our emotions high we are forced to leave the objection/question unanswered. We walk away disappointed for a number of reasons, but as Christians two specifically weigh heavily on our hearts: (1) we know the fate of those who deny Christ and (2) we know the word of God calls on us to be courageous in situations like these.
1 Peter 3:15-16
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
The purpose of this small group study is to help you fulfill the obligation placed upon us in 1 Peter 3:15 by developing the skill set and knowledge to respond to those who wish to undermine the legitimacy of the Christian worldview.
This study will be divided up into 6 days (sessions):
Day 1 – Truth
Day 2 – Evidence for a Creator
Day 3 – Evidence for Christianity
Day 4 – Basic Christianity
Day 5 – Tactics for Communicating and Defending Your Faith (1)
Day 6 – Tactics for Communicating and Defending Your Faith (2)
Each session will consist of commentary and short video clips (the teaching elements) as well as discussion questions (the interaction element) that deal specifically with the topic for that day. Each individual session is meant to be completed in the order in which they are listed:
As a whole – From Day 1 through Day 6
Individually – Starting at the top of the session’s web page and finishing at the bottom of the session’s web page
